Catechesis Core Principles Course

The Montessori Method Applied to the Child’s First Six Years

“I cannot insist too strongly on this early initiation by Christian parents in which the child's faculties are integrated into a living relationship with God. It is a work of prime importance. It demands great love and profound respect for the child who has a right to a simple and true presentation of the Christian faith.”
~ APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION CATECHESI TRADENDAE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II ON CATECHESIS IN OUR TIME

how can we give the Young child this “simple and true presentation of the Christian faith”?

John Paul the Great made it clear that catechesis is as much about the person being catechized as it is about the content given them. Secular studies have shown that the first 1000 days of a child’s life are the most critical in their development.

Offered in conjunction with our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I Course, these Fridays will offer:

  • Foundational principles about the human person from birth to age 6.

  • The developmental and religious nature and needs of the young child

  • Insights into the aspects of God and the Kingdom of God that most greatly strike the child’s sense of wonder and enjoyment of God

  • Ideas and practical knowledge about into how to live the liturgical year in a deep way that resonates with young children

Led by two experienced AMI Montessori directresses, this course is perfect for parents, teachers, catechists and anyone who wants to deepen their own understanding of what it means to “become like these little children.”
